PAGEANT UPDATES: VENEZUELA STRIKES AGAIN! MISS VENEZUELA WORLD 2009-2010 WINS REINA HISPANOAMERICANA 2009!!!

Adriana Cristina Vasini Sanchez, a beauty from Zulia, Venezuela and the reigning Miss Venezuela World 2009 was recently crowned as the new Reina Hispanoamericana 2009 during the annual pageant held in Santa Cruz on October 29th. She was crowned by her predecessor, Vivian Noronha Cia of Brazil.

The twenty-two year old medicine student defeated twenty other beauties in both swinsuit, evening gown, and final Q&A interview. The 1.78 m beauty will be expecting to represent Venezuela in Miss World 2010 in Vietnam. Vasini’s victory remarked Venezuela’s 5th victory in the history of Reina Hispanoamericana.

Meanwhile, the “Virreina” or “vice-miss” is 19-year old Sandra Vinces, Miss Ecuador; the 1st runner-up was Brazil (Livia Nepomuceno), 2nd runner-up was Spain (Melody Mir); 3rd runner-up was Bolivia (Flavia Foianini), 4th runner-up Dominican Republic (Rocio Castellon) and the 5th runner-up was Colombia (Lina Mosquera). Best National Costume award goes to Miss Mexico, Andrea Martinez.

Ada Aimee de la Cruz, the current Miss Universe 2009 first runner-up was one of the judges at that night.

Last year, Reina Hispanoamericana was marred by scandals and controversies when the original winner for 2008 edition, Mexico’s Laura Zuniga was arrested by the authorities for illegal possession of drugs and deadly weapons. First runner-up Vivian Noronha Cia of Brazil assumed the title.
